AMMAN — The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship on Thursday warned against Coronavirus Android Ransomware. The ransom virus spread through an application, claiming that it tracks updates on the coronavirus breakout and provides maps.
The ministry noted that when the users download the application, the ransom virus prevents victims from accessing data on their systems and threatens to erase data if they do not pay $100 in bitcoin within 28 hours, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
To stay updated on information related to COVID-19, the ministry urged the public to visit www.corona.moh.gov.jo, adding that a thorough analysis of the ransomware containing the actual ransom decryption instructions is available at
