AMMAN — The Health Computing Company is set to complete the digital transformation of all public hospitals in Jordan by the end of 2024, Omar Ayesh, the company's CEO, said on Tuesday.
In press remarks, Ayesh highlighted the company's 15-year mission to digitise Jordan's healthcare sector, noting that this initiative aims to improve the quality of services provided by the Royal Medical Services and the Ministry of Health, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The company is also driving several programmes, including a drug delivery service that now supports 184 Ministry of Health facilities and 6 Royal Medical Services facilities, he added.
Established in 2009, the Health Computing Company is a not-for-profit organisation jointly owned by the public health and technology sectors, that aims to improve healthcare services in Jordan through digital solutions, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, the Royal Medical Services, the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, the Royal Health Awareness Society, the Private Hospitals Association and the King Abdullah II Fund for Development.
The digital transformation began with pilot projects at Prince Hamza Hospital and the Comprehensive Health Centre in Amman between 2009 and 2011. Following the success of these trials, His Majesty King Abdullah ordered the nationwide implementation of the Hakeem programme in all government healthcare facilities.
Over the past 15 years, a total of 285 health facilities were digitalised, including those under the Royal Medical Services, the Ministry of Health and the King Hussein Cancer Center.
The Hakeem programme, accessible through the "Hakeemi" platform and app, now serves 187,206 users from the Ministry of Health and 27,457 users from the Royal Medical Services.
