AMMAN — Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) has recorded a new achievement by becoming the second ranked Jordanian university, after the University of Jordan, and remaining in the (801-1000) category globally, in the QS World University Rankings 2022, according to a PSUT statement.

This marks an improvement of 6 per cent in its position in this category, despite the 10 per cent increase in the number of universities included in the rankings this year, the statement said.

PSUT also ranked first nationally in the criterion of the ratio of the number of published research papers to the number of faculty members.

It also moved ahead in the criteria of the rate of scientific research citations per faculty member, the number of international students and “the reputation of graduates in the labour market and employers’ satisfaction with them”, according to the statement.

PSUT President Mashhoor Al Refai, said that the university has made progress in this important classification for the third consecutive year, despite its small size and the fact that it doesn’t have a medical school.

Refai added that the achievement comes as a result of the efforts made by the entire PSUT staff, including both the academic and administrative bodies, and under the guidance of HRH Princess Sumaya, chair of its board of trustees, who urged for the enactment of legislation that would motivate researchers.

He said that the number of research works published in the name of PSUT has quadrupled in the past four years according to global Scopus research databases.
