AMMAN — The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) and the Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Sunday signed an air cooperation agreement.

The agreement included merging the PSD’s Air Wing with the Royal Air Force, in addition to the provision of air services from the Royal Air Force for the PSD if the need arises, mainly for search and rescue operations, evacuations, and exceptional and emergency incidents.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, during the ceremony, said that the new agreement is part of the ongoing coordination between the armed forces and the PSD in various fields.

PSD Director Maj. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh said that unifying air missions under the umbrella of the armed forces’ Royal Air Force is the best choice for more coordination and efficiency in carrying out duties and missions, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
