AMMAN — The Public Security Directorate (PSD) announced on Thursday the suspension of passenger movement through the King Hussein Bridge until further notice, after authorities on the other side closed the crossing.
The PSD urged travellers to monitor official updates and media reports regarding the reopening of the crossing.
The Karameh border crossing was shut down by Israeli authorities in response to a security incident on the opposite side of the border.
Israeli media reported that two Israelis were killed and two others critically wounded in a suspected shooting attack near the King Hussein (Allenby) Bridge border crossing, which links Jordan with the occupied West Bank. Paramedics said they found the victims unconscious at the scene and were treating a man in his 60s and another in his 20s.
Minister of Government Communication and official government spokesperson Mohammad Momani said Jordan is following developments related to the incident and will announce further details once available.
