AMMAN — The Criminal Court prosecutor is expected on Monday to start questioning a 42-year-old man who allegedly murdered his wife and dumped her body in front of Mafraq Public Hospital on Saturday, official sources said.
The 30-year-old victim’s body was dumped from a pickup truck that stopped in front of the hospital and then drove off.
Eyewitnesses wrote down the licence plate number of the vehicle and gave it to the police, who identified the driver as the victim’s husband, a senior judicial source said.
“Criminal Court Prosecutor Salah Taleb will start questioning the suspect on Monday to learn more about the motive behind the killing,” the judicial source told The Jordan Times.
“The motive behind the murder remains unclear but the husband confessed to the murder,” the source added.
A post-mortem examination conducted by a team of pathologists headed by Ali Shotar in the Irbid National Institute of Forensic Medicine indicated that the victim died of a single gunshot to the stomach, a medical source told The Jordan Times.
“The bullet, fired by a pump-action rifle, caused heavy bleeding in the kidney, spleen and stomach, leading to the death of the victim,” the medical source added.
The victim is survived by three children aged 11, eight and four, according to the official source.
