Prosecutor orders suspects in traffic police assault case detained

AMMAN — East Amman general prosecutor on Tuesday decided to detain suspects who allegedly assaulted traffic police personnel at Al Mashaghel roundabout in a correctional and rehabilitation centre.

The suspected assailants, charged with assaulting police officers, were arrested few days earlier after attacking traffic personnel while on duty, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

A video purportedly showing the attack was circulated on social media. The incident reportedly transpired when traffic policemen intervened to break up a brawl that resulted from a traffic accident between the suspects, according to Petra.
