Projected new schools to replace rundown buildings in Aqaba

AQABA – Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Mohammad Thneibat on Saturday tasked the ministry with floating a tender for the construction of a new premises for Al Amal School for the deaf community in Aqaba to replace the dilapidated rented building.

Thneibat also issued directives to float a tender for constructing another school in Khaldieh village to replace its old building, which is located on the main road.

In addition, the minister issued directives to allocate a number of scholarships for Aqaba students who wish to continue their higher education to study specialisations for which teachers are needed in the southern governorate’s schools.

During the visit, Thneibat met Aqaba Governor Fawaz Rsheidat and several MPs to discuss the educational situation in the governorate.

He also met with Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority Chief Commissioner Hani Mulki and discussed the authority’s support to the Education Ministry.

Mulki noted that Aqaba traders have donated 70 heaters to local schools.
