AMMAN — Professional associations on Sunday said the publication of a cartoon of Prophet Mohammad by French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo is a mistake that violates freedom of expression and contradicts professional journalism standards.

At a sit-in organised by professional associations, Mahmoud Abu Ghneimah, head of the Professional Associations Council, said the cartoon fuels hatred and hurts the feelings of Muslims and all moderate people in the world.

Also on Sunday, the Jordan Interfaith Coexistence Research Centre expressed anger over the magazine’s move.
