AMMAN — HRH Princess Rym Ali, member of the Board of Commissioners of the Royal Film Commission (RFC), on Friday evening inaugurated the South African Film Days at the commission headquarters, in the presence of South African Ambassador to Jordan Tselane Mokuena.
The event was part of the embassy’s South African Heritage Month celebrations, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
In her remarks, Princess Rym praised South Africa’s culture and its historic solidarity with the Palestinian cause, highlighting the country’s political, legal and popular support for Palestine.
She noted that cinema and culture are “deeply” rooted in a nation’s identity and told stories of resilience, trauma and hope.
Mokuena thanked Princess Rym for her patronage and emphasised that the event coincides with the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Jordan and South Africa.
The diplomat highlighted ongoing efforts to boost cooperation in the film sector, including joint production agreements and collaboration on creative industries initiatives.
The ambassador also outlined South Africa’s growing film sector, noting its significant economic contribution and modern studios that host international productions.
She added that a South African producer is currently in Amman to lead a training workshop for Jordanian filmmakers, marking the start of a broader cultural exchange between the two countries.
