Princess Raiyah takes part in ‘Japan Development’ seminars

AMMAN — HRH Princess Raiyah Bint Al Hussein on Wednesday attended the launch of a series of virtual seminars under the theme “Japan Development”, aimed at highlighting Japan's development and modernisation drive over the years.

The seminars, organised by the Faculty of Foreign Languages at the University of Jordan (UJ) in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), shed light on the contemporary history of Japan and the country’s renaissance period, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The princess, during the opening session, lauded cooperation between the JICA and the UJ, highlighting their role in bolstering Amman-Tokyo cultural ties. She also expressed admiration for Japan's efforts to preserve its values and culture during its march towards modernity.

"Japan has managed to adapt to foreign influence, modify and shape it to naturally fit the local culture to become part of a unique Japanese unit," she said.

JICA President Shinichi Kitaoka commended the Jordanian-Japanese relations, noting that cooperation between Jordan and the JICA dates back to 1974, emphasising that his country managed to achieve development through preserving its local traditions and culture.
