Princess Muna receives ‘prestigious’ nursing awards in Romania

AMMAN — HRH Princess Muna, president of the Jordanian Nursing Council (JNC) has participated as a distinguished guest at the 125th-anniversary celebration of the International Council of Nurses (ICN) in Bucharest, Romania.

Held at the Romanian Parliament under the patronage of the Romanian President, the event brought together representatives from over 50 countries to celebrate advancements in nursing, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

In her address, Princess Muna emphasised the importance of investing in nursing and promoting leadership in health policymaking, reaffirming her commitment to global initiatives. She was also honoured with a medal from the Romanian Nursing Association (ANR) and named an “Ambassador of Nursing and Health” by ICN for her significant contributions to the field.

During the celebration, the “Bucharest Declaration on the Future of Nursing” was launched, outlining strategies to enhance nursing’s role in health policy and decision-making.

The Declaration also calls for increased investment in nursing education, leadership and innovation to improve global health outcomes. Speakers commended Princess Muna’s leadership in supporting nursing and health initiatives, emphasising the importance of cooperation in health education.

During the visit, Princess Muna toured the Romanian ambulance centre to learn about advances in emergency management and visited the Romanian Ministry of the Interior, where she received an award recognising her contributions to nursing and healthcare.

In a formal ceremony, Custodian of the Romanian Crown Princess Margareta presented Princess Muna with the Family Medal of the Custodians of the Romanian Crown, honouring the close ties between the Jordanian and Romanian Royal families and recognising her global impact on nursing and health.

The event concluded with a commitment to deepen cooperation between Jordan and Romania, activating a joint cooperation agreement and establishing Romania’s willingness to train Jordanian personnel in emergency and ambulance services.
