AMMAN — Members of the Senate’s tourism, health, environment and population committees on Wednesday discussed challenges facing the country’s historical and archaeological sites with HRH Princess Dana Firas, vice-president of the Petra National Trust (PNT).
During the meeting, Princess Dana briefed the lawmakers on the duties performed by the PNT, including the preservation of the historical, archaeological, cultural and environmental heritage of the ancient city of Petra and the surrounding region.
The princess also stressed the importance of collective efforts to preserve Jordan’s historical sites, especially those in the Petra region, citing their economic and cultural importance.
