AMMAN — The Petra National Trust (PNT), in cooperation with the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), on Wednesday organised a symposium titled “Salt on the World Heritage List” at the Beit Yaish Cultural Centre.
The event was held for the occasion of Salt’s recent listing on the World Heritage List, as a place of tolerance and urban hospitality.
Salt was added to the World Heritage List during the 44th session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO, held in China in late July, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
HRH Princess Dana Firas, PNT president and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Cultural Heritage, highlighted the importance of applying the world heritage covenant and preserving the location, in addition to implementing international standards and laws that call for proper preservation measures.
