AMMAN — HRH Princess Basma bint Talal on Tuesday inaugurated the renovated Knowledge Station at the Umm Al Hussein Orphanage, upgraded with support from Talal Abu Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global) in cooperation with the South African Embassy in Jordan.
The project, implemented under the group’s National Knowledge Centres initiative, included expanding the facility and installing modern digital technologies to enhance training and learning opportunities for orphanage residents and members of the local community.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Chairperson of the orphanage’s Administrative Board and Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD) Executive Director Farah Daghistani, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the ceremony, Princess Basma stressed the importance of partnerships between national institutions, diplomatic missions and the private sector in advancing development goals and promoting shared humanitarian values.
“The station is a valuable addition to the orphanage, providing a modern learning environment that supports innovation, skills development and lifelong learning,” she said.
Princess Basma also highlighted the importance of strengthening digital skills and supporting the orphanage’s role in education and empowerment.
TAG.Global Chairman and CEO Talal Abu-Ghazaleh said that the project forms part of the group’s efforts to support digital transformation and expand access to education and training opportunities across the Kingdom.
He added that the initiative aims to promote equal access to knowledge and equip young people with the skills needed to keep pace with technological developments and contribute to sustainable development.
South African Ambassador to Jordan Tselane Mokuena commended the partnership between the embassy and TAG.Global, as a reflection of their shared commitment to education and youth empowerment.
She said that the Knowledge Station would help enhance educational opportunities and develop students’ skills at the orphanage.
Founded in 1958 by the late Queen Zein Al Sharaf, the Umm Al Hussein Orphanage provides care, shelter and educational opportunities for orphaned and vulnerable children.
