AMMAN — HRH Princess Basma bint Talal, president of the Goodwill Campaign Higher Committee, implemented by the Jordanian Hashemite Human Development Fund (JOHUD), on Tuesday checked on patients receiving treatment at Al-Khaldi and AbdulHadi hospitals and the Al-Shami Eye Centre.
The patients, from various regions of the Kingdom, underwent a series of free surgeries this year, performed by volunteer medical experts from the campaign's medical team, as part of the Healing Touch Programme and in cooperation with the private medical sector, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
At Al-Khaldi and Abdulhadi hospitals, the princess visited 12 patients that underwent a variety of surgeries, including orthopaedic, brain and nerve, reconstructive and cosmetic, general and ENT. At the Al-Shami Eye Centre, 5 of the 19 patients who underwent surgery in Amman and the centre's branch in Aqaba received treatments such as cataract removal, lens implants and corneal surgery.
Princess Basma expressed her pride in the campaign's partnership with the private medical sector to provide quality and advanced medical services to patients from needy families in different regions of the Kingdom. She praised the efforts of the medical staff who oversees the surgeries and the follow-up care provided to the patients.
HRH reaffirmed the campaign's commitment, supported by its partners in the private medical sector, to meet the needs of patients from underprivileged families in different governorates of the Kingdom by providing the necessary health care.
The patients were selected after being screened during the campaign's free medical days held in various regions of the Kingdom, Petra added.
