Princess Basma attends National Scout Gathering

AMMAN — HRH Princess Basma, president of the Jordanian Association for Boy Scouts and Girl Guides (JABSGG) on Thursday visited the National Scout Gathering/Loyalty to Al Hussein at Al Karameh Scout Camp.

A total of 300 girl guides, along with some guides with disabilities, are participating in the event, which started on Tuesday and is expected to conclude on Friday, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Organised by the Education Ministry’s Boy Scouts and Girl Guides Department, the event aims at providing the girl guides with leadership, social and life skills, developing their abilities in communication, dialogue and creative thinking through holding several sessions based on stimulating thinking. 

Princess Basma highlighted the importance of such gatherings in developing the skills of boy scouts and girl guides and in preparing Jordanian leaders, mainly among youth. 

The princess referred to the role of such events as instilling positive values in youth and developing their skills in various regards.

Princess Basma also commended the enthusiasm of the participants and their awareness of several issues and means of dealing with them, expressing her gratitude for the Education Ministry’s support to render such events a success. 

For his part, Education Minister Tayseer Nuaimi said that the JABSGG has “contributed greatly” to the education process and Jordanian society, according to Petra.

Nuaimi also highlighted the ministry’s role in improving the Kingdom’s educational system, especially given its contribution to developing skills related to leadership, communication, dialogue and community service. 

The minister said that the meeting was dedicated to His Majesty the late King Hussein, whose 84th birth anniversary was marked by the Kingdom on Thursday.
