AMMAN — HRH Princess Basma, president of the Jordanian Association for Boy Scouts and Girl Guides, on Thursday attended the central celebration held by the Ministry of Education to mark the Kingdom’s 79th Independence Day.
The event was organised by the ministry’s Scouts and Guides Directorate, part of the Educational Activities Department, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Speaking at the celebration held at the Princess Basma Permanent Scout Camp in Dibeen, the princess said that the Independence Day anniversary “reinforces pride in the journey of the forefathers, who worked to elevate the nation and secure its freedom to ensure a dignified and safe life for its citizens.”
The event was attended by Secretary-General of the Scouts and Guides Association Mazen Hmoud, and several directors of education from across the Kingdom.
Princess Basma stressed that this national occasion serves as a motivation for all Jordanians to continue with determination along the path of development and modernisation, led by His Majesty King Abdullah, despite all challenges.
She praised the Ministry of Education’s efforts to promote the scouting movement as part of the educational process, given its important role in instilling values of belonging, volunteerism, giving and patriotism among youth.
Princess Basma also stressed the importance of building a national scouting movement that embodies the humanitarian values and mission of scouting.
