AMMAN — HRH Prince Rashid bin El Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO), received US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz over Jordan-led efforts to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip.
The meeting was attended by representatives of United Nations organisations in Jordan and a delegation from the US embassy in Amman, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Prince Rashid stressed Jordan’s commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, to continue its humanitarian role towards Gaza through an effective operational framework and international partnerships.
The visiting delegation praised the level of logistical development and the Jordanian humanitarian corridor, which has become a central hub for delivering aid to the Strip.
Talks during the meeting discussed ways to facilitate the work of the Jordanian relief corridor and overcome all obstacles to ensure the delivery of the largest possible amount of aid in the most effective manner.
The prince and the visiting delegates inaugurated JHCO’s new logistics operations centre, which enhances humanitarian response capabilities and raises preparedness levels.
In press remarks following a meeting with UN officials and agencies, Waltz said that his country values the partnership with Jordan and the role it plays in facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.
He added that the US assistance includes tents, shelters, blankets, medical supplies, foodstuff, flour and other essential needs.
He noted that the ceasefire, the implementation of the agreement and the release of hostages pave the way for moving to the reconstruction phase in Gaza, providing security and boosting the humanitarian response, including emergency aid and reconstruction efforts.
Waltz pointed out that his visit aims to help remove bureaucratic obstacles and advance humanitarian work in the coming phase.
