AMMAN — HRH Prince Omar Bin Faisal, President of the Jordan Esports Federation, on Sunday unveiled plans to develop Jordan’s esports sector.
During a meeting with media representatives, attended by Minister of Government Communications and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani, Prince Omar highlighted the importance of promoting esports, a field that has recently achieved notable successes and is poised for further growth on multiple fronts.
The prince underscored esports as an emerging sector experiencing rapid expansion both nationally and internationally. He outlined the federation’s national esports strategy, detailing efforts to advance the sector and foster partnerships with public and private entities to strengthen its presence and support, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The Prince also briefed the media on plans to expand participation, cooperate with the Ministry of Youth to promote esports in youth centres, and coordinate with the Ministry of Education to explore ways of integrating esports into school programmes.
Emphasising the importance of developing the sector on both technical and organisational fronts, the Prince highlighted Jordan’s upcoming hosting of the Arab Esports League competitions, taking place in the Kingdom for the first time this month. The event reflects the federation’s commitment to enhancing its organisational capacity and bolstering Jordan’s standing in Arab and international esports arenas, he said.
Momani commended the rapid growth of esports in Jordan, commending Prince Omar for his efforts and affirming the media’s support for initiatives aimed at achieving success and raising the nation’s international profile.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of esports in the Kingdom, the achievements attained, and upcoming tournaments in Amman, beginning with the Arab League competition, which will feature participants from 18 Arab nations.
Journalists at the meeting highlighted the significance of esports and the need for media coverage across all governorates. They expressed their willingness to cooperate with the Esports Federation to raise its visibility and conveyed gratitude to HRH Prince Omar for his pivotal role in advancing the sport, expressing optimism for further accomplishments at the Arab, regional, and international levels.
