AMMAN — HRH Prince Mired Bin Raad on Monday attended a ceremony marking the conclusion of the “Disabled Soldiers Empowering Tourism” programme, a national initiative aimed at equipping disabled Jordanian veterans and their families with skills to enter the tourism and hospitality workforce.
The event, held in Amman, brought together representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Hashemite Commission for Disabled Soldiers, Boeing, and Amideast Jordan, who jointly celebrated the outcomes of the 19-month initiative, according to a statement from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
Implemented in both Amman and Irbid, the programme supported 46 veterans aged between 20 and 45 through over 190 hours of training. The sessions focused on English language development, digital literacy, soft skills and sector-specific technical competencies certified by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. In addition to skills development, participants received psychosocial support designed to enhance resilience and promote well-being.
Participant profiles and CVs were shared with over 15 tourism sector employers as part of Amideast’s job referral efforts, the statement said.
“Boeing recognises the values and experience veterans contribute to the company’s success,” said Kuljit Ghata-Aura, president of Boeing Middle East, Turkey, Africa, and Central Asia. “We are proud to support the transition of veterans into civilian careers and commend the Hashemite Commission for Disabled Soldiers for the programme’s continued impact.”
Amideast Jordan Country Director Nour Alrasheed described the initiative as a model of effective cooperation. “These veterans did not just gain skills; they found renewed purpose, confidence, and connection to a sector that now sees them as capable contributors,” she said.
The success of the programme has secured a follow-on grant to expand its reach in 2026, making it a replicable model for inclusive employment and public-private cooperation in Jordan.
Over the years, Boeing and Amideast Jordan have jointly implemented several initiatives supporting youth empowerment, including the ongoing Careers in Aviation programme, the Data Science and Readiness training for university graduates, and the Spark programme, which promotes STEM skills among girls in public schools.
