AMMAN — Deputising for HRH Prince Hassan, former minister Hala Latouf on Tuesday participated in the Jordan National Forum for Inclusive Social Protection, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The forum was organised by the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD) under the title "Shifting Paradigms: Towards Sustainable and Inclusive Social Protection in Jordan”.
The prince, in a speech delivered on his behalf by Latouf, stressed the need to focus on a consistent approach that seeks to empower individuals by promoting the concept of human dignity.
Prince Hassan called for the development of policies that transcend regional borders and enhance flexibility, support development and prioritise human dignity in the region and beyond.
He highlighted the difference between resorting to various living standard indicators such as the social progress index and the multiple deprivation index, instead of relying only on the per capita GDP indicator.
Such indices deal with the different dimensions such as health, education and standards of living,
The prince said that by understanding these dimensions, the concerned institutes can begin to design solutions and develop effective, evidence-based, sustainable and inclusive policies to alleviate deprivation.
