AMMAN — HRH Prince Hassan on Tuesday stressed the need to enhance Jordan’s productive economy through innovation, value creation and regional economic integration.
During a visit to the East Amman Industrial Investors Association and meeting with Jordanian and Arab investors and business leaders, Prince Hassan said that national strength and stability in the 21st century are increasingly linked to countries’ ability to adapt, innovate and create opportunities.
He stressed the importance of leveraging Jordan’s geographic location to drive development and create opportunities for its people, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The prince also noted that Jordan is well positioned to build economic and knowledge bridges across the region, stressing that strategic value lies in networking, integration and the alignment of shared interests.
“Jordan should move beyond a production-focused industrial model towards one based on value creation and knowledge, through greater investment in skills, technology and innovation,” he said.
Prince Hassan added that industrial development should be closely linked to water, energy and food security, which he described as “key pillars of national stability and competitiveness.”
He also described the association as a “model of productivity, entrepreneurship and self-reliance, as well as a key source of jobs and exports,” commending the resilience and competitiveness of Jordanian industrialists despite various challenges.
Association President Iyad Abu Haltam said that national industrial exports have totalled some JD10 billion and reached more than 150 countries.
Abu Haltam added that the sector provides over 268,000 jobs and contributes more than a quarter of the national economy.
He also highlighted the sector’s ability to overcome supply chain disruptions and rising financing and operating costs, while proposing stronger cooperation between Jordanian businesses and their counterparts in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon to support regional economic integration and expand investment opportunities.
Prince Hassan began the visit with a tour of Al Shurook for Printing and Packaging, where he was briefed on its production processes and expansion plans aimed at enhancing competitiveness and increasing its presence in local and export markets.
