Prince Hassan asserts Jordan's strong ties with Oman on visit to sultanate

Prince renews calls for focusing on culture of constructive dialogue for effective solutions

AMMAN — HRH Prince Hassan, president of the Arab Thought Forum, on Friday concluded a working visit to Oman.

During his visit, the prince met with His Eminence Sheikh Ahmed Bin Hamad Al Khalili, the Grand Mufti of Oman, and delivered a lecture at Sultan Qaboos University, titled "The Arab Reality amid International Developments and Impacts on the Region: A Future Vision," organised by the Omani Cultural Club, under the patronage of Omani Minister of Information Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Harrasi.

In his lecture, the prince emphasised the strong nature of Jordanian-Omani relations and their central role in dealing with regional and international issues, with both countries acting as mediators to keep the Arab world interconnected and united, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The prince presented a forward-looking analysis of the present-day Arab world amid regional developments and changes, pointing out that the Middle East serves as a gateway for the convergence of North Africa, Europe and Asia.

Prince Hassan stressed the importance of focusing on a culture of  constructive dialogue that aims to find effective solutions, which generate enlightenment, depth, insights, and wisdom to enhance participation in decision-making and expand the dialogue base.

The prince also highlighted the need to maximise creative commonalities between cultures and respect the differences among them through an integrated system of social and cultural values based on respect for life in all its diversity and promoting human solidarity and diversity to affirm the value and dignity of human beings.

He also renewed his call for the establishment of a global Zakat and solidarity fund to enhance progress, development and growth, as well as the need to launch a comprehensive peace law matrix based on the system of ethics of human solidarity, and the establishment of a parliament of cultures that would serve as a forum for Arab and non-Arab dialogues.

In his lecture, the prince addressed several topics focusing on the need to adopt policies and strategies related to health, education, food security, water, energy, science, and technology, and the need to outline a national strategy to revive and protect the Arabic language as a tool for communication and expression.

The lecture also focused on youth empowerment and raising awareness about contemporary issues.

In his speech, Mahmoud Bin Mubarak Al Sulaimi, chairman of the board of directors of Oman Cultural Club, said that Prince Hassan is one of the leading thinkers in the Arab world, advocating for dialogue between civilisations and world peace. 

He pointed out that the prince's lecture coincides with the club's celebration of its 40th anniversary.

Prince Hassan also gave an interview to the Omani Wesal Radio, where he discussed the historical Jordanian-Omani relations, and the importance of facing various challenges through cooperation and integration.

During the interview, the prince stressed the need for a new and independent global humanitarian system and the necessity of finding effective Arab vision to revive a new renaissance in the region based on empowerment, Petra added.
