AMMAN — HRH Prince Feisal, the founder and chairman of Generations For Peace organisation, on Wednesday met with James Browne, the Irish Minister of State at the Department of Justice for Law Reform and Youth Justice, to discuss youth empowerment and peacebuilding issues.

During the meeting, both sides emphasised the importance of continued cooperation and partnership between the Irish embassy and Generations for Peace, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The prince praised the support of the Irish embassy in Jordan for the organisation’s programmes, which aim to enhance the capabilities of young people and provide them with space to express themselves on issues that matter to them, ultimately promoting social peace.

Browne expressed his appreciation for the depth of the relationship between Jordan and Ireland, which has developed across various political, economic, cultural and educational fields.

He also praised the recent partnership between Generation for Peace and Cinemagic in Belfast, which brought together young people from Jordan and Syria to produce the award-winning film “Abia”. The film was supported by the Irish embassy in Amman and the Irish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Abia” won the award for Best Foreign Language Film at the British Short Film Awards and is currently being screened as part of the United Nations’ International Women’s Day celebrations in various locations around the world, including the Permanent Mission of Ireland to the United Nations in New York and Los Angeles, as well as during the Women’s Film Week organised by the UN Women in Jordan.

The meeting between Prince Feisal and Minister Browne also addressed issues related to youth, peace, security, and the important role of sports in providing opportunities for young people.
