AMMAN — HRH Prince El Hassan, President of the Arab Thought Forum, on Tuesday attended the graduation ceremony of the "Sabelat El Hassan 2025" programme at the University of Jordan, organised under the theme "Development and Belonging".

Addressing participants, Prince El Hassan urged young people to embrace dialogue, reject violence and extremism, and move beyond individualism toward collective responsibility and cooperation.

He called for a "constructive national dialogue" to prioritise domestic challenges and develop a national code of honour to guide responses to regional crises.

"The best path is the middle path", the Prince said, stressing the importance of moderation, solidarity, and human interaction in shaping shared convictions. He also underscored the need for active citizenship, respect for human dignity, and recognition of others as equal partners.

Highlighting Jordan’s cultural diversity as part of the broader Mashreqi identity, Prince El Hassan encouraged preserving pluralism and learning from shared history to envision a safer and more prosperous future. He also proposed the creation of a "farmers’ index" to identify agricultural needs and enhance support systems.

The Prince emphasised the interconnection of water, food, energy, and ecosystems, calling for a human-centred approach to environmental action and urging youth to translate ideas into action as agents of change, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Khawla Hassan, Director of the El Hassan Youth Award, said this year’s program included 61 participants from 14 Jordanian universities and from Iraq, Palestine, and Syria.

Activities ranged from military and fitness training to climbing Mount Um Al Dami, lectures on key issues, and volunteer work preparing humanitarian aid for Gaza in cooperation with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO).

University of Jordan President Nathir Obeidat praised the initiative as a platform for knowledge, respect, and creativity, saying, "Despite all the hope, the heart still carries an open wound called Gaza… Humanity is not just words but real actions, and remaining silent in the face of injustice is a betrayal of values".

Captain Osama Junaideh, commander of the camp, described the program as a "school of sacrifice and discipline" that instils responsibility and loyalty to the nation.

The ceremony was attended by senior officials, academics, military leaders, and representatives of local and international organisations.

The Sabelat El Hassan programme has been an annual endeavour of the Prince Hassan Youth Award Office since 1991, following the directives of His Royal Highness.
