AMMAN — In the presence HRH Prince El Hassan Bin Talal, chairman of the Arab Thought Forum, and HRH Princess Sarvath El Hassan, Al Malath Foundation for Humanistic Care on Monday held its 2025 annual charity dinner in Amman, reiterating its steadfast commitment to providing free palliative care to patients and their families across the Kingdom in a manner that upholds dignity and alleviates suffering.
In his address at the event, Prince El Hassan underscored the deep humanitarian vision behind the establishment of the Al Malath Foundation, recalling the visit of nurses from the UK’s Macmillan Cancer Support to Jordan in the early 1980s, which introduced the principles of modern palliative care: comfort, communication, choice, and control.
The Prince emphasised that these values continue to guide the foundation’s mission today, placing compassion, respect and human dignity at the heart of every care journey.
He also announced the foundation’s new humanitarian goal: the establishment of Jordan’s first specialised hospice care centre, a national project expected to be completed within the next two years. The centre will offer comprehensive and entirely free medical, psychological and social support to patients with life-limiting illnesses.
Prince El Hassan welcomed the renewed collaboration with Macmillan Cancer Support through the “Trek to Petra Challenge”, noting that this partnership, four decades after Macmillan’s first visit to Jordan, represents a meaningful milestone that reflects the shared commitment to advancing humanitarian care in the Kingdom.
He expressed appreciation to Dar Al Handasah for designing a facility that embodies serenity and comfort, and extended gratitude to the Al Malath Foundation team for their dedication and professionalism, which he said reflect the highest standards of compassionate care.
