AMMAN — The Prime Ministry on Thursday held a consultative session on the competency framework for integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the public sector,
The session, held in partnership with the Jordan Strategy Forum (JSF)the participation of government institutions, private sector companies, academics, experts, and international partners specialising in public sector modernisation, digital transformation, and emerging technologies.
It aimed to present the framework and gather feedback from relevant stakeholders ahead of its official launch, as part of the data and emerging technologies component of the second executive programme of the Public Sector Modernisation Roadmap (2026–2029), according to a Prime Ministry statement.
Minister of State for Public Sector Development Badria Balbisi said that the government was keen to hold the session to review feedback from various entities on the AI competency framework for the public sector.
She stressed that the second phase of the public sector modernisation programme aims to transform government administration into an integrated system based on efficiency, productivity and future readiness through the use of emerging technologies.
Balbisi added that the programme introduces a new component focused on data and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, with a range of initiatives and projects to be implemented over its duration.
She noted that the adoption of AI in government administration would shift the role of government from administrative execution to enabling data-driven decision-making, supporting policies aligned with citizens’ needs through advanced technological tools.
Balbisi said that the framework is intended to build capacity within the public sector, empower employees to use AI responsibly, and position Jordan as a regional leader in the field.
JSF Executive Director Nisreen Barakat highlighted the importance of the partnership with the Public Sector Modernisation Programme Management and Implementation Unit, noting that it contributes to hosting dialogue sessions, projects, and initiatives that support public sector reform.
She added that the forum plans to continue holding discussions with stakeholders on topics related to administrative modernisation and the Economic Modernisation Vision.
Secretary-General of the Civil Service and Public Administration Commission Yasser Nsour presented a visual overview of the AI competency framework, including its objectives, target groups, and implementation timeline, highlighting its expected impact on accelerating government procedures and improving public services.
Participants emphasised the importance of implementing the framework to enhance public sector efficiency and improve service delivery, describing the government’s move towards AI adoption as a strategic response to rapid global advances in digital transformation.
