Prime minister meets Islamic Action Front bloc

AMMAN — Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Monday met with the head and members of the Islamic Action Front (IAF) parliamentary bloc as part of ongoing efforts to engage with various parliamentary blocs. 

The meeting, held in the presence of Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi, focused on key national and political issues.

During the meeting, Hassan emphasised the government's neutral stance towards all parliamentary blocs and political parties. He also stressed the importance of a cooperative and constructive relationship with these groups, based on continuous dialogue and joint efforts to achieve national goals and strengthen institutional political work.

Hassan also reaffirmed the government's commitment to implementing the policies outlined in His Majesty King Abdullah's  Letter of Designation under which the government received the confidence of Parliament. He highlighted the progress made in these areas and expressed optimism for further progress in achieving the government's goals.

The prime minister also outlined the government's focus on key priorities, including economic growth, political reform and administrative modernisation.

 He noted that the coming period will see an emphasis on large-scale investment projects aimed at boosting economic growth and creating new employment opportunities. The government remains committed to advancing political reform and modernising the public sector, he said.

On the international front, Hasan reiterated Jordan's steadfast position on the Palestinian cause, highlighting Jordan's firm stance against displacement, resettlement and the concept of an alternative homeland. 

The prime minister also reiterated the government's commitment to supporting Palestinian resilience and working towards a political solution that guarantees their rights, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

Safadi underlined the importance of regular meetings between the government and the various parliamentary blocs, stressing their role in addressing critical national issues.

Head of the IAF bloc MP Saleh Armouti commended the government's approach to consultative meetings, describing them as essential to maintaining a productive and respectful relationship between the government and lawmakers. 

Armouti also reiterated the bloc's commitment to national unity, especially in the face of the difficult regional context. He strongly condemned any threats to Jordan's security and stability and reiterated the IAF's rejection of any actions or statements that could harm the Kingdom's stability.

The meeting also included a wide-ranging discussion on key issues, with the prime minister and relevant ministers, including the ministers of awqaf and islamic affairs, interior, and political and parliamentary affairs, expressing the government's commitment to address these issues in the best interest of the nation.
