AMMAN — Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Monday inaugurated a new expansion at the Princess Iman Public Hospital in Deir Alla’s Maddi, marking a “significant” upgrade in healthcare services for the area.
The expansion included a 1,200-square-metre building dedicated to outpatient clinics and a dialysis unit, according to a Prime Ministry statement.
Construction of the building was completed in seven months, despite a four-year delay.
The project moved forwards under the prime minister's direct supervision, where he prioritised its completion during earlier field visits.
Monday’s visit was Hassan’s third to the hospital since assuming office, as the first visit was part of his initial field tours, and the second was to check on construction progress.
Accompanied by Minister of Health Firas Hawari, Hassan toured the upgraded departments and stressed the importance of maintaining high standards in patient care.
He directed authorities to begin the second phase of the expansion immediately, which will involve renovating the original hospital building. The second phase is expected to be completed next year.
To improve patient access, particularly for the elderly and individuals with special needs, Hassan ordered three transport vehicles to shuttle patients from the main road, 300 metres from the hospital.
The prime minister expressed gratitude for Jordan Bromine Company for co-financing part of the expansion through its corporate social responsibility programme.
The hospital director briefed Hassan on the new medical services added as part of the project, including an echocardiography clinic, a hearing and audiology clinic, and a breast cancer early detection unit.
The hospital has also hired new specialists in anaesthesiology, nephrology, cardiology, emergency medicine, and orthopaedics, as well as additional nurses, pharmacists, and administrative staff.
Other improvements included expanded waiting areas, additional parking spaces, upgraded sanitation facilities, and new air conditioning units.
The Prime Ministry’s delivery and follow-up unit continues to oversee development projects initiated during the prime minister’s field visits, ensuring progress in coordination with relevant government entities, the statement added.
