AMMAN — Prime Minister Jafar Hassan unveiled on Sunday the opening of 18 new public schools as part of a nationwide initiative to improve educational infrastructure.
Speaking during a visit to the Ministry of Education, Hassan said that seven schools will open at the start of the upcoming academic year, while 11 more are scheduled to open at the beginning of the second semester, the government owned-Al Mamlaka TV reported.
The new schools are part of the government’s social responsibility partnership with the private sector.
The prime minister also revealed plans to build 85 new schools and expand 35 existing ones, including the addition of new classrooms, over the course of the next academic year.
“Schools across the country will witness a significant transformation in terms of both maintenance and construction,” Hassan said, crediting the improvements to enhanced public-private cooperation.
He stressed the importance of reinforcing national identity in schools, saying: “Every school must reflect the values, mission, and image of the state in the hearts of our children and future generations.”
