AMMAN — Police on Wednesday said they were investigating a video clip that allegedly showed a man holding a machinegun and threatening a taxi driver in the street.
A video went viral on social media showing several men obstructing a taxi in a street, with one of them holding a machinegun.
The video shows the man with the machinegun kicking a taxi, while the taxi was manoeuvring to get out from between two vehicles.
Once the taxi finally managed to drive away, the three men were seen in the video getting into a white car and pursuing the taxi.
Police Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi said that police are investigating the incident but refused to elaborate.
“At this time we have no information to offer but we will notify the public once our investigations are over,” Sartawi told The Jordan Times.
Social media users voiced their outrage about the video with many stating that the incident occurred in east Amman.
“Las Vegas Mood” wrote Saifeddine Jihad on Facebook.
Isam Abu Latifeh added on Facebook: “Seems this man [who is holding the automatic weapon] watches a lot of action movies. How stupid of him.”
