PM tours Interior, Investment ministries

AMMAN — In continuation of a series of inspection visits to government institutions, Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Thursday toured the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Investment, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During his visit to the Ministry of Interior, Khasawneh met with a number of governors, in the presence of Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs Ibrahim Jazi, Minister of Interior Mazen Faraya,  Director of Public Security Directorate Maj. Gen. Obaidallah Maaytah, and Director of the Civil Status and Passports Department Fahed Omoush.

Khasawneh conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Abdullah and HRH Crown Prince Hussein to governors and personnel at the Ministry of Interior, praising their “pioneering role” in all areas.

The prime minister also stressed the importance of the comprehensive modernisation project led by His Majesty King Abdullah and the role of governors in this regard, especially in relation to facilitating investment procedures. 

Presiding over a meeting of the Investment Council, which is held after passing the Investment Environment Law, Khasawneh stressed that a new bill will be prepared to enhance the partnership between the public and private sectors.

Khasawneh called on the Investment Council to hold periodic meetings according to a clear agenda and objectives, and create an investment policy that is in line with the existing legislative framework..

Investment Minister Kholoud Saqqaf briefed the attendees on the ministry’s 2023 executive programme and priorities.

Saqqaf revealed that the ministry will  launch a digital platform to help investors identify available investment opportunities, noting that 23 investment opportunities in tourism, industrial and other sectors will be announced through the platform soon.
