Hawatmeh outlines plans, challenges and achievements

AMMAN — Prime Minister Hani Mulki on Sunday described the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation (JRTVC) as a “pioneering national institution” that delivers objective news in the service of the public.

During a visit to the corporation, where he met with JRTVC Chairman George Hawatmeh, Mulki said several policies of the Jordan Television have been recently revisited to improve its performance and expand the coverage of issues that concern citizens, enhancing dialogue and focusing on awareness raising shows.

The premier urged JRTVC cadres to focus on field work to meet people in the governorates and hear directly from them about their concerns, stressing that the need to cover all segments of society, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

For his part, Hawatmeh — a veteran journalist and former chief editor of The Jordan Times, Al Rai and Al Ghad — outlined the technical and financial challenges that face the corporation.

He also highlighted that the latest achievements and the executive plan to improve performance.

Hawatmeh stressed the importance of the government’s support to enable the JRTVC to develop its performance through several TV shows that will be broadcast soon.

Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani also attended the meeting.
