PM receives CDC delegation

AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Sunday met with a delegation from the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the meeting, attended by Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs Ibrahim Jazi, Minister of Health Feras Al Hawari and Head of the National Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases Centre Raeda Qutob, the two sides discussed enhancing cooperation and exchanging expertise. 

Khasawneh highlighted the National Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases Centre’s role in developing public health practices and taking necessary measures to prevent the spread of diseases.

The government has committed itself to establishing the centre in implementation of Royal directives, he noted, stressing the government's support for the centre’s development.

Khasawneh expressed appreciation for the existing cooperation between the CDC and the National Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases Centre. 

The US delegation reviewed areas of cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the National Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases Centre, voicing readiness to receive a delegation from the Jordanian centre at its headquarters in the US to discuss prospects for future cooperation.
