AMMAN — Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Omar Razzaz on Sunday offered his well-wishes and conveyed greetings to Jordanian Christians celebrating Easter, according to the Julian calendar, thanking them for celebrating at home and limiting prayers at churches to the clergy, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

In a phone call with Greek Orthodox Archbishop and Head of the Jordan Churches Council, Bishop Christophoros Attallah, the prime minister hailed the role of the council in urging the Christian community to conduct prayers at homes in compliance with the current coronavirus-prompted curfew.

The current conditions that the Kingdom is experiencing as a result of the coronavirus make it imperative for all to adhere to the instructions issued by public health authorities prohibiting gatherings in places of worship and other public places, the prime minister stressed.

Razzaz took to Twitter to write, in Arabic: "On the occasion of the glorious Easter, I would like to extend my congratulations and best wishes to my Christian brothers and sisters. I hope for a tomorrow when the cloud of this pandemic will clear with everyone's efforts, solidarity and support."

Also on Sunday, Senate President Faisal Fayez conveyed his well-wishes to Jordanian Christians who are celebrating Easter, wishing the Kingdom progress and prosperity under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, Petra reported.

In a statement, Fayez said: "We in Jordan, under the Hashemite leadership, have always been a model of coexistence," noting that Jordanians are “proud of the wise Hashemite leadership” and its ability to maintain security and stability despite the difficult circumstances the nation is experiencing.
