AMMAN — Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Wednesday received FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu and the accompanying delegation at the Prime Ministry.
The meeting, attended by Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hneifat, underscored the importance of expanding cooperation in the fields of agriculture and food security, particularly in light of the FAO’s designation of Jordan as the regional hub for the Mashreq Food Security Observatory, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Hassan highlighted the significance of joint projects aimed at addressing major challenges related to agriculture, food security, water, and climate change.
The discussions also emphasised the need to intensify efforts to ensure the unrestricted, adequate, and sustainable delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza amid the ongoing crisis, and to bolster food security in the West Bank.
Qu commended Jordan’s expertise and efforts in the field of food security, praising the Kingdom’s essential role in facilitating aid delivery to the Gaza Strip.
