PM due in Davos Tuesday for WEF

AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, Prime Minister Omar Razzaz is scheduled to arrive in Davos, Switzerland, on Tuesday to participate in the annual summit of the World Economic Forum (WEF), which will see the participation of heads of state, ministers, businesspeople and chairs of global companies. 

The prime minister will take part in a session on Wednesday titled: "Geopolitical Outlook: The Middle East and North Africa", which will be moderated by WEF President Borge Brende, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

The premier's agenda also includes bilateral meetings with senior officials, representatives of global companies and heads of participating delegations.

Razzaz will also engage in media activities on several international TV channels and newspapers to review the government's perspective and efforts in enhancing the business environment in the Kingdom. 

Razzaz will present the government's efforts and its economic reform programmes, which aim at boosting the economic and monetary stability, accelerating development and attracting investments that can generate jobs for Jordanians.

Held under the theme "Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World", the 2020 WEF forum will bring together 3,000 participants from around the world, according to the forum website.

The event aims to give a concrete meaning to “stakeholder capitalism”, assist governments and international institutions in tracking progress towards the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals, and facilitate discussions on technology and trade governance, according to the WEF. 

The WEF was established in 1971 as a not-for-profit foundation and has its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. It is independent, impartial and not tied to any special interests, as mentioned on the forum website.
