AMMAN — A total of 39,272 tourists of various nationalities visited Petra in October, compared with only 360 guests in October 2020, figures released by the Petra Tourism Development Region Authority (PDTRA) showed on Tuesday.
According to the PDTRA, October marked the highest number of tourists since the outbreak of the pandemic. PDTRA figures showed that the total number included 25,383 non-Arab tourists, 11,615 Jordanians and 2,274 non-Jordanian Arabs, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
PDTRA Chief Commissioner Suleiman Farajat said that this increase is a strong indicator of the tourist recovery in the rose-red city, especially since there have been even more bookings following the reopening of the southern border crossing and resumption of low-cost flights.
