Petra records 300% increase in January, February tourism numbers — PDTRA

AMMAN — Petra welcomed 36,423 visitors in the first two months of this year, marking a 300 per cent increase compared with the same period in 2021, the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) said on Tuesday.
During the January-February period of last year, the tourists figure stood at 9,114, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. PDTRA noted that the rose-red city received 21,557 visitors in January this year, including 16,734 foreigners and 4,652 Jordanians.
The January figure indicates a 285 per cent rise compared with the same month of 2021. Chairman of PDTRA Board of Commissioners Suleiman Farajat said that the authority had signed an agreement to provide an air taxi service in the ancient city, in addition to activating the Little Petra Heritage Village, among other steps aimed at boosting investments in the region.
