AMMAN — The Ministry of Education on Monday said that “pensioning off is a routine procedure” governed by civil retirement laws, social security law and civil service by-laws.
In a statement cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the ministry said that the retirements, which “constantly” take place in the ministry, are aimed at providing new vacancies in the Civil Service Bureau, as well as alleviating unemployment rate among job seekers who hold various degrees in all disciplines, including teaching, in addition to “injecting new blood into the educational process”.
The ministry pointed out that the retirements, made on Sunday, including 132 school teachers and principals, as well as administrative staffs, are “normal”, adding that several other ministries and institutions have also pensioned off some of their employees.
The statement said that a large number of employees placed in retirement are included under the civil service retirement system, adding that their actual service has exceeded 29 years.
