Over 46,300 job opportunities created in second half of 2022

AMMAN — The net number of jobs that were introduced to the Jordanian labour market during the second half of 2022 reached approximately 46,283 opportunities, an increase of 3,062 jobs compared to the first half of the same year.

The report issued by the Department of Statistics regarding newly created job opportunities stated that the recorded number of jobs during the second half of 2022 was around 86,284, and the number of jobs resigned from reached about 40,001,.

According to nationality statistics, the results showed that the net increase in job opportunities for Jordanians reached 88.6 per cent in the second half of 2022, accounting for 41,013 jobs, compared to 87.9 per cent constituting 38,003 jobs in the first half, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The report indicated that the net job opportunities devised for male employees were 32,888, constituting 71.1 per cent of the total amount, while net job opportunities for female employees were 13,395, accounting for 28.9 per cent. The remaining 0.7 per cent was attributed to non-governmental job vacancies.

Amman, during the second half of 2022, led in creating 61 per cent of net job opportunities, while Maan had the lowest percentage recorded at 0.2 per cent.

The report noted a decrease in net job opportunities for male employees by 3,178 and an increase for female employees by 6,240.

The private sector contributed with 36,405 jobs, amounting to 78.7 per cent of the majority of job opportunities, while the public sector contributed with 9,453 jobs, amounting to 20.4 per cent of the opportunities, Petra reported.

The survey highlighted the predominant concentration of job opportunities in the wholesale and retail trade sector, as well as the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, with a total of 9,489 jobs, followed by the education sector with 7,150 vacancies.

In terms of professions, the data showed that 39.3 per cent of the new jobs were in specialised careers, followed by sales and service workers accounting for 33.2 per cent of the total.

The report also indicated that 54 per cent of resignees left their jobs to find new opportunities due to the conditions and nature of work, while the remaining 46 per cent left their jobs due to the location of the workplace, area of residence, and working hours.
