AMMAN — Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) Director General Salah Luzi on Friday said that some 11,700 taxis in Amman and 5,800 in other governorates will start home delivery services as of Sunday under a plan to resume work for yellow taxi drivers, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The plan stipulates that 1,000 taxis can work simultaneously for three days before they are replaced with another 1,000, Luzi added.
Also on Friday, Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC) Chief Commissioner Ghazi Jbour said that the commission will not allow taxis to deliver basic commodities to houses until they meet the requirements for home delivery services.
The TRC is the sole agency for licensing home delivery services, Jbour said, adding that taxis cannot perform this service unless they meet eight conditions, including offering a financial guarantee and registering at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and supply.
