OIC to hold emergency meeting over Israel’s Al Aqsa raids Saturday

By JT - Apr 06,2023 - Last updated at Apr 06,2023

AMMAN — At the request of Jordan and Palestine, and in coordination with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as the chair of the Islamic Summit and the Executive Committee, an exceptional open membership meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), will be held on Saturday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the OIC in Jeddah.

The meeting’s agenda will include discussions over the recent developments at Al Aqsa Mosque/Haram Al Sharif after Israel occupation forces carried out continuous raids at the mosque, which resulted in attacks on the holy site and the people present inside, notably Jerusalemite worshippers performing their sacred religious rituals, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

The Foreign Ministry emphasised the need to continue Arab, Islamic and international efforts to stop the Israeli attacks, which are deemed a flagrant and rejected violation of international humanitarian law that aims to change the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites.
