AMMAN — A total of 435,150 Jordanians travelled abroad for tourism during the first four months of 2026, according to Department of Statistics data on outbound tourism.
The number represents a 17.7 per cent decrease compared to the same period in 2025, as the same four months in 2025 recorded 528,558 departing citizens, according to Al Mamlaka TV.
In January, the number of outbound tourists reached 161,709. The figure reached 104,051 in February and JD99,153 in March, while in April, the number reached 70,237, which brought the total to 435,150.
The sharpest decline occurred in April, as the number of outbound travellers dropped from 113,692 in April of 2025 to 70,237 in April of 2026, showing a 38.2 per cent decrease.
Previously published data also showed a 12.9 per cent drop in tourism expenditure abroad by Jordanians and residents during the first four months of 2026, standing at $562.6 million.
Tourism spending abroad in April 2026 alone recorded a 33.7 per cent decrease, reaching $103.0 million.
Central Bank of Jordan data previously showed a decrease by 6.3 per cent in tourism spending by Jordanians and residents travelling abroad during the first quarter of 2026, falling to $459.7 million.
Net tourism income also declined during the first quarter of 2026 by 2.8 per cent, reaching $1.19 billion.
