AMMAN — The Jordanian market is opened for Iraqi industries “without any obstacles or fees”, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yousef Al Shamali said on Thursday.

During two separate meetings with heads and members of Iraq Industry Union and representatives from Baghdad Chamber of Commerce, Shamali noted that no rate has been charged on Iraqi-made products for entering the Jordanian market,

He stressed the need for enhancing trade exchange between the countries to achieve economic integration.

Ihab Qadiri, Jordan Chamber of Industry’s official in charge of exports to the Iraqi market, said that Jordanian portion in the Iraqi market is still limited as it is less than 1 per cent of Iraq’s imports.

Statistical figures showed that the Kingdom’s exports to Iraq decreased  by 7 per cent during the first nine months of this year, to reach JD302 million, compared with JD325 million recorded in the same period of 2021, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Jordan’s industrial sector produces 1,500 goods, and some 1,400 goods are exported to 142 countries, according to Petra.
