Nearly 130,000 sacrifices sold in Amman during Eid Al Adha

AMMAN — A total of 129,097 sacrifices were sold during Eid Al Adha, the Muslim feast of the sacrifice, at the locations across the capital designated by the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), which witnessed the slaughter of 71,518 sheep and 181 calves.

GAM allocated 12 locations in Amman to limit the random selling and slaughter of sacrifices, and provided veterinarians to examine livestock and ensure they met health and sharia standards. A total of 387,291 people visited these locations.

The GAM’s slaughterhouse directorate was also responsible for slaughtering the Royal Court’s 7,000 sacrifices, which were distributed as a Royal benefaction (makruma) to underprivileged families across the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Saturday.
