AMMAN — The National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) on Wednesday launched an EU programme to support civil society in Jordan.
The programme seeks to enhance non-government organisations’ capabilities to raise people’s awareness on their political, social and cultural rights.
Mousa Breizat, the centre’s chief commissioner, said the project, implemented in cooperation with the Planning Ministry and funded by the EU, also aims at providing civil society institutions with suitable conditions needed to enhance their engagement in policy development, according to an NCHR statement.
EU Ambassador to Jordan Andrea Matteo Fontana expressed hope that the EU’s partnership with the centre will achieve the removal of any obstacles hindering the work of civil society organisations.
