AMMAN — Jordan’s national football team players have voiced strong support and pride following HRH Crown Prince Hussein’s directive to relaunch the Prince Ali Grassroots Centres, hailing the move as a vital step towards nurturing future generations of talent and strengthening the foundations of Jordanian football.
Chairing a meeting at the Jordan Football Association (JFA) on Tuesday, the Crown Prince ordered the relaunch of the centres under a new vision focused on delivering high-standard training programmes and expanding their reach to cover all governorates.
The initiative is set to become a comprehensive national project aimed at widening participation in football, identifying and developing promising players, and building a generation capable of representing Jordan on the international stage.
His Royal Highness highlighted the national team’s recent achievements, stressing that their success is the result of sustained national and institutional efforts. He also praised the role of the JFA in advancing Jordanian football and creating pathways for young athletes.
Prince Ali, president of the JFA, expressed appreciation for the Crown Prince’s continued support of the sports sector, particularly football, noting its importance in boosting morale among players and fans alike, especially ahead of the World Cup.
Following the announcement, several national team players shared messages on their personal social media platforms, reflecting on their journeys through the grassroots system and welcoming the relaunch of the centres.
Forward Mousa Tamari described his experience at the youth centres as “the foundation” of his career, adding that their relaunch is “a step in the right direction” towards developing talent to the desired level.
Striker Yazan Naimat said the centres had given players like him the opportunity to reach where they are today, expressing pride in having been part of the programme and thanking the Crown Prince for restoring it.
Mohammad Abu Zrayq echoed similar sentiments, noting: “This is where we started, thank you to the Crown Prince for bringing them back.”
Defender Yazan Arab highlighted the emotional significance of the initiative, saying he was honoured to have taken his first steps in football through these centres, where he learned “the meaning of passion and belonging,” adding that “this is where the dream begins.”
Defender Nizar Rashdan also reflected on his beginnings, calling the relaunch a continuation of a story that started in those centres, while Adham Quraishi described them as “the beginning of the dream,” thanking the Crown Prince for reinstating them.
Meanwhile, Noor Rawabdeh expressed optimism about the future, saying the initiative represents “a new generation and a big dream,” and a step in the right direction for every aspiring player waiting for an opportunity.
Jordanian Athletes see the relaunch of the Prince Ali Grassroots Centres as a strategic move to sustain Jordan’s footballing momentum, particularly following the national team’s historic World Cup qualification, and to ensure a steady pipeline of talent for years to come.
