Mubadara group says lots of money wasted on ‘fallacious’ nuclear projects

AMMAN — The Lower House-based “Mubadara” initiative on Monday called on the government to take “serious and swift” measures to stop “wasting of money” at the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) and Jordan Nuclear Power Company.

Mubadara also called for protecting public assets and holding accountable all those involved in the wasting of money at JAEC, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During a meeting with ministers of finance, energy and political and parliamentary affairs, the committee’s members called for an investigation into the wasting of money on “fictitious projects”, without conducting any scientific studies and without any authentic information, according to Petra.

“Jordan does not have the luxury to waste millions of dinars,” the committee rapporteur Mustafa Yaghi said. JAEC said previously that the financial expenses of the Jordanian Nuclear Programme from 2008 until the end of 2017 reached JD112 million, which was allocated in the budget.
